After months of anticipation from Genevieve’s fans, across Africa, the Nollywood star is set to launch her first movie project titled “Road To Yesterday”.
The movie tells a story of an estranged couple that tries to mend their relationship on a road trip to a relative’s funeral.
Genevieve teamed up with British actor, producer, writer, and former fashion model- Oris Erhuero (Sometimes in April, The Adventures of Simbad star) to play the lead roles. The film also stars Ebele Okaro Onyiuke, Chioma Omeruah (Chigurl), Majid Michel, Meg Otanwa and Deyemi Okalanwon.
The movie’s director Ishaya Bako (whose previous works include “Fueling Poverty” and “Braids on a Bald Head”and most recently silent tears), has also filled fans with high expectations because this is Bako’s first feature film coupled with the fact that Nnaji has not starred in any film recently. Therefore, there is high anticipation that Nollywood is about to be regaled with another classic, given Bako and Nnaji’s antecedents. It will be recalled that following the controversy, surrounding the partial removal of the fuel subsidy in 2012, Bako produced and directed Fueling Poverty, which was barred but went on to win an AMAA for best documentary that year.
