There’s a huge amount of talent out there and while Nollywood greats do deserve their fame, we’re also excited to see what these talented actresses have in store for us in 2016.
> Adesua Etomi: The first class graduate of Drama and Performance from the University of Wolverhampton and triple distinction holder in Performing Arts from City College Coventry certainly knows her onions when it comes to role interpretation.
Adesua graced the big screens in her first leading role in the Royal Arts Academy movie ‘Knocking on Heaven’s Door’ in 2014 alongside stars like Majid Michael, Blossom Chukwujekwu and Ini Edo and she was excellent in her acting. The movie opened doors for her into more movies like Brave, Falling, A Soldier’s Story, Gidi Up, Out of luck, Couple of days etc
She has been nominated for several awards and won several notable awards like the best new actress award in the 2014 edition of Nollywood Reinvented Awards and she has also been nominated for the prestigious 2016 AMVCA award for best actress in a drama. Many Nollywood fans are eager to see what she brings to the screen this year.
>Rising through the ranks, Cross River State born Belinda Effah came into the movie scene after her enchanting performances in several TV series.
Belinda, who’s a graduate of Genetics and Bio-Technology has continued to prove her mettle in the movie industry since her emergence in 2011. Belinda Effah is popular for movies like “Apaye,” “Kokoma,” “Jump and Pass,” “After the Proposal,” “Folly,” among others.

In 2013, she won the Most Promising Act of the Year award at the 9th Africa Movie Academy Awards.
From GIAMA to Best of Nollywood Awards and AMAA, the actress has won several awards for her acting skills.
She has also been nominated for 2016 AMVCAs “Best Actress in a Drama” for her role in “Stop.”
> Marcy Dolapo Oni is a Versatile Actress, Media Personality and Master of Ceremony. She has worked globally with classical and contemporary material across all mediums – from stage and television to radio – Crafting her Expertise in Entertainment. Dolapo’s romance with acting started with stage plays (‘Iya-Ile’, Saro-the-musical, waka-the-musical).
Dolapo also featured in South African TV- Series ‘Jacob’s Cross,’ one of the most popular drama series in Africa. She played the part of ‘Moremi Omotoso’ – a woman who is passionate, liberated, strong and fights for what she believes in.
Dolapo, believes that “Acting is playing in a sense, being able to align yourself with a character and drawing from your own experiences to become one with that character. It allows you to be completely free. There is nothing else like it”
In Desperate Housewives Africa, Dolapo plays Rume Bello( the narrator). Her role in “Diary of a Lagos Girl”, is also one we are eager to see. Our eyes are certainly on this princess in 2016.
