Best known for her early Nollywood roles, Ego Boyo has emerged from acting to producing, to becoming a society lady. Her 1996 film, Violated, was one of the highest selling home videos at the time and the impact of her role in Checkmate is evident as her fans are still vocal about her movie career and beg her to return to the screen.
Worried about the growing trend of mediocrity in the industry, the veteran actress called on filmmakers to focus on creative content and originality rather than box office numbers and sold out cinemas.
In a series of tweets on her official Twitter account, she asked if filmmakers are selling out venues or selling out real creative content
According to her:” I miss the days when the content was rich and original, even when the technology wasn’t rich. Now technology is great, even better. Mediocre can’t be our target. Are we selling out venues or selling out real content? Saying it like it is unwelcome in our industry” she said.
Ego Boyo is set to star in Audrey Silva’s new TV series “The Banker” later this year.
