Cast: WerucheOpia, OC UkejeBeverly Naya, OrekaGodis, Gideon Okeke, Bukky WrightDesmond Elliot, Wale Ojo, BasseyEkpeyong and Shaffy Bello

The movie was produced by MTV award winning director Seyi Babatope.

‘When Love Happens’ is an interesting romantic comedy; and all the actors shone in their respective roles.

When an old friend (Beverly Naya) gets engaged, a wedding planner (WerucheOpia)embarks on a quest to find true love in Lagossomewhat unconventionally. She turns to the internet, reignites an old flame and eventually finds love from an unexpected angle.

Weruche’s role as an average working class single lady living in Lagos was absolutely fantastic. Her witty online posts about her love quest would have you in stitches. Her character is one that could be easily related to by the average ‘Lagosian’. Hearing her speak pidgin was also rather delightful.Gideon Okeke and OrekaGodis are her best friends with whom she spends most of her free time while OC Ukeje plays the role of an arrogant charming ex-boyfriend.

The movie spoke of friendship, infidelity and love. A projected theme was ‘Marrying your best friend’ and some of the most heartwarming moments were in the affectionate scenes between her parents (BasseyEkpeyong and Shaffy Bello).

Although the storyline wasn’t particularly new in Nollywood, the acting was enjoyable. In addition to this, the cinematography was beautiful, the lighting was good and the lines were well delivered.

‘When Love Happens’ is possibly the best Nigerian romantic comedy in recent times and definitely recommended as a ‘Must-See’.
